BEIRUT, April 17 (Xinhua) -- A senior UN official said here on Wednesday that the Arab region needs 220 billion U.S. dollars annually to create 92 million job opportunities for young Arabs by 2030.

"Reforms are of utmost importance to attract investments to these sectors namely in smart infrastructure, renewable energy and green technology," Rola Dashti, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, said during the 17th Arab Business Community Forum held in Lebanon's capital Beirut.

Dashti also called for the improvement in business environment in the Arab world to attract investments in the future.

The private sector in the Arab world should cope with the advancements brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution in a bid to survive, she noted.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is characterized by a fusion of technologies in a number of fields, including robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, fifth-generation wireless technologies (5G) and others.
