PHNOM PENH, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on Monday that his official Facebook page was hacked and many of his posts had been deleted.

"Just before this moment, a group of hackers had broken into my Facebook account and had deleted a large amount of data," Hun Sen wrote on the page after his experts got it back from the hackers.

"Now, the Facebook company is investigating those ill-willed persons who have bad intention to poison and to destroy information in our society," he said.

Besides deleting data, the hackers also posted fake news claiming that Hun Sen would shut down Facebook in the country if the social media giant closed his account.

It was the second time that the prime minister's page was hacked. The first hacking happened in August last year.

Hun Sen announced his official Facebook page, "Samdech Hun Sen, Cambodian Prime Minister" in 2015, and so far, the page received nearly 11 million "likes."

Social media, especially Facebook, is very popular in this Southeast Asian country, where about 12 million of the country's 16 million people have access to the Internet, according to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
