KIGALI, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda's ministry of health said Tuesday it has intensified exercises to enhance the medical personnel's and other stakeholders' readiness to prevent and manage Ebola in case of any outbreak in the country.

The four-day exercise to run from Jan. 8 to Jan. 11 started in western Rusizi district bordering DR Congo on Tuesday, the ministry said in a statement in Rwandan capital city Kigali.

In Rusizi, the exercise took place at Gihundwe hospital, and Kamembe airport, according to the statement.

The training is aimed to check the readiness at various levels for health personnel, laboratory attendants and local leaders to respond to the disease in case of an outbreak, it said.

The exercise featured imagined Ebola patients, how they can be handled, treated and body buried in case of death, it added.

The ministry said though Rwanda currently has no suspected or confirmed case of Ebola, it would continue to check readiness of healthcare providers, and other stakeholders following various training exercise about treatment and prevention measures.

Since the outbreak of Ebola in DR Congo, Rwanda has put in place strict prevention measures against the disease.
