ADDIS ABABA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Wednesday reiterated Africa's common position in support of the major agendas of the upcoming G20 summit, which is scheduled to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1.

Noting that Africa's bright future extends beyond the continent, Ahmed said that "Africa needs to take the extent and quality of its cooperation to deepen global partnerships," according to a statement issued by the Ethiopian Prime Minister's Office on Wednesday.

Ahmed made the remarks as 19 leaders of the world's biggest economies and a representative of the European Union (EU) are set to meet on Friday and Saturday in Buenos Aries as part of the G20 summit.

Reiterating Africa's readiness to work with G20 member countries, Ahmed also said that the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) "will play a significant role in accelerating our continental development objectives and move us beyond the focus on unemployment and migration towards a New Horizon of Hope."

The CwA primary aims to increase attractiveness of private investment through substantial improvements of the macro, business and financing frameworks.

As a demand-driven initiative open to all African countries, the CwA, launched in 2017, has so far been joined by 11 African countries, including Ethiopia.

"My administration wants to convey its support to the agenda centered on the future of work, infrastructure, gender and a sustainable food future," the premier said.

Noting that this year's G20 summit takes place at a time where global leaders need to reaffirm the commitment to designing solutions and pursuing a more inclusive growth, Ahmed stressed that "we need to work towards creating a just and equitable society."

"We see the Compact with Africa as a unique opportunity for supporting targeted FDI from G20 countries and beyond. We are looking forward to attracting more investment through this platform and our commitment to collaborate with G20 remains very strong," he added.

Ahmed also expressed his hope that "the G20 summit will make important progress in putting Africa's growth agenda central to its final outcomes."
