Temples were adorned with flowers and echoed by the melodious chants of Krishna bhajans (song with religious theme or spiritual ideas).

On Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami, devotees observed fast and decorate Krishna idols with fancy clothes and beautiful ornaments.

Hindu community in Dhaka and elsewhere brought out colorful processions displaying the eventful life of Krishna and hold other programs on this occasion.

The day is a public holiday in Bangladesh.
