KABUL, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government has sacked seven military officials, including two army generals, in the wake of a recent terrorist attack on a battalion for which the Islamic State (IS) group claimed responsibility.

On Jan. 29, 11 soldiers and four suicide bombers were killed and 16 army personnel wounded after five members of the IS group attacked the 1st Battalion of National Army's 111 Capital Division in western neighborhood of Kabul.

A team assigned by Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani to investigate the deadly attack has found that seven high ranking officers committed professional negligence when the facility came under attack, Afghan Presidential Palace said in a statement on its Facebook account.

"All the seven officers are sacked and referred to concerned authorities for further investigations," the statement said, adding that the process of reward and punishment for security personnel would continue.

The fortified Afghan capital Kabul had experienced three deadly terrorist attacks in January which claimed more than 100 lives and injured more than 200 others.
