BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Water Resources on Saturday announced that the Taihu Lake, China's third-largest freshwater lake in eastern Jiangsu Province, is experiencing its "No.1 Flood" of 2025.
Due to heavy rainfall from Typhoon Co-May, the water level at Taihu Lake rose to the warning threshold of 3.8 meters on Saturday.
The ministry is closely monitoring the flood situation in the Taihu Lake basin and has dispatched a work team to support local flood control efforts.
"No.1 Flood" is a classification given to the first flood to reach a certain standard of severity in a single river each year. ■
