Flamengo eyes move for Colombian midfielder Carrascal

RIO DE JANEIRO, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo is close to signing Colombian midfielder Jorge Carrascal from Dynamo Moscow, according to media reports in Brazil.

Carrascal is contracted to the Russian Premier League side until June 2027 but Flamengo is reportedly willing to pay 12 million euros to release him.

The 27-year-old has made 64 first-team appearances for Dynamo Moscow since joining the club from CSKA Moscow in 2023.

News outlet O Globo said Carrascal would arrive in Rio de Janeiro this weekend to undergo a medical and sign a contract.

Flamengo currently leads Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings and is among six Brazilian clubs to reach the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition.

Brazil's mid-season transfer window opened on July 10 and runs until September 2. ■
