MEXICO CITY, June 11 (Xinhua) -- The Mexican government on Wednesday rejected media reports that the United States has pressured Mexico to investigate, prosecute or extradite officials allegedly tied to organized crime.

"It is absolutely false that in meetings with Senator Marco Rubio or officials from the State Department, any request was made to investigate, prosecute or extradite any Mexican official," Mexico's Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on the social platform X.

The ministry said its dialogue with the U.S. State Department has been transparent and focused on a range of issues, including security cooperation, and has always been based on the principles of sovereignty, coordination without subordination and respect for human rights.

The two countries have a shared agenda on migration, development and the fight against organized crime, guided by cooperation mechanisms rooted in mutual understanding and respect, it said.

Mexican authorities have repeatedly expressed their commitment to a strong bilateral relationship based on open dialogue and respect for each country's legal frameworks.
