          Pakistan will respect ceasefire with India: military spokesman

          ISLAMABAD, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan will adhere to a ceasefire agreement with India along the Line of Control ( LoC) in Kashmir region and also Working Boundary, military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Monday.

          Ghafoor told a news conference in Rawalpindi near the capital Islamabad that Pakistan will respect its understanding with India despite recent incidents of ceasefire violations along the Working Boundary.

          "We will adhere to the May 29 agreement on ceasefire in letter and spirit. We will not fire but we will only respond if we are compelled," the military spokesman said.

          "Our forces will not respond to the first Indian bullet but will not ignore if second is fired," he said.

          Pakistan and India declared ceasefire in 2003 along the LoC and Working Boundary. However, both countries routinely accuse each other of ceasefire violations.

          Senior Pakistani and Indian military officials agreed on May 29 to reduce escalations along the borders in view of the sufferings of the civilians living on both sides.
