          More world leaders invited to G7 Summit for oceans protection

          DHAKA, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invited 16 world leaders and heads of international organizations, besides the G7 leaders, to join a special session of the upcoming G7 summit on oceans protection.

          Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is among the leaders invited to Canada, local media reported here Sunday.

          The host country leader said Canada would welcome several world leaders and heads of international organizations to the G7 Summit to take part in the special outreach session June 9, which will focus on healthy oceans and resilient coastal communities, according to a news release on Canada PM's official website.

          "These leaders and heads of international organizations will meet with G7 leaders to discuss how to build resilient coasts and communities, share ocean knowledge and science, and support sustainable oceans and fisheries. They will also explore how to best address pressing challenges, including plastics in our oceans and illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing," said the news release.

          "Canada is committed to working with others in the G7 and beyond to strengthen resilience, fight climate change, and protect our oceans for generations to come. As with all work under Canada's G7 presidency, these discussions will include a focus on gender equality and women's empowerment."

          The G7 comprises the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Canada and Britain. The 44th G7 summit will be held on June 8 and 9 in Quebec, Canada.?
