MOSCOW, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday once again emphasized the importance of a political settlement of the Syrian crisis.

The two leaders discussed the situation in Syria and expressed their commitment to the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity in a phone conversation, according to the Kremlin.

They said that the solutions proposed at the Astana talks should be fully considered.

Parallel to the UN-sponsored Geneva process, nine rounds of intra-Syrian talks have been held in the Kazakh capital of Astana since January 2017, with Russia, Turkey and Iran as the mediators.

During Tuesday's phone call, Putin and Erdogan also discussed the development of Russian-Turkish relations and expressed satisfaction with the implementation of joint energy projects, the Kremlin said.
