SYDNEY, April 23 (Xinhua) -- A Komodo dragon named Kraken celebrated his seventh birthday on Monday, with presents and meat cake at the Australian Reptile Park.

Found on the Indonesian island of Komodo, the exotic lizard is considered a "vulnerable" species with only 3,000 to 5,000 left in the wild.

"Kraken is my absolute favorite animal we have here at the entire park. He's the best," head of reptiles at the park Daniel Rumsey said.

"We walk him every single day and it's easy to say he loves the attention he gets from the public, so it's very cool we got to celebrate his birthday and give him a bit of a treat!"

"We worked hard on his mincemeat cake and wrapped his presents. It's safe to say he had a great time!"

While the juvenile dragon weighs around 32 kg and is 2.2 meters long, zookeepers say the forked-tongue carnivores can grow up to 4.0 meters and weigh over 100 kg, making the Komodo the largest lizard in the world.
